Creating a professional teacher portfolio (content of the portfolio: developmentally appropriate teaching activities, samples of instructional plans, evidence that shows appropriate Math. education learning environment design, samples of work related to school, family and community relationships, samples of assessment activities, evidence of participation in professional development activities). Course Objectives:
The aim of this course is to provide students a platform in which they can put all the skills and knowledge acquired throughout undergraduate studies into practice. They will prepare a professional portfolio throughout this course.
Course Learning Outcomes:
Upon completion of this course, the student should be able to:
- Develop a professional portfolio documenting understanding of the teaching competencies for elementary and middle school mathematics
- Synthesize learning acquired throughout the mathematics education program.
- Articulate their own perspective of mathematics education
- Reflect on personal and professional development throughout the mathematics education program
- Create a personal philosophy statement in regards to mathematics teaching
- Evaluate an action research project conducted during student teaching experience
