Catalog Description:
Comprehending contrasting viewpoints by using various authentic reading texts such as newspapers, journals, reviews and academic texts; mastering higher order reading skills by predicting and identifying main ideas and decoding intersentential cues; equipping students with intensive and extensive reading habits; developing critical thinking skills based on synthesizing, analyzing and evaluating information. Course Objectives:
This course aims to expose students a wide range of authentic reading materials. It aims to develop intensive and extensive reading habits. The students are expected to predict and identify main ideas, analyze and synthesize and evaluate the information in the texts.

At the end of this class students will be able to;
1) Analyze the compound sentences in advanced level and authentic texts
2) Classify the sentence types according to the connector used
3) Identify the referred words, phrases or sentences the reference words point in the text
