Developmental features of children and adolescents and their reflections on psychological counseling process; principles and techniques of counseling process with children and adolescents; planning the psychological counseling process, structuring and leading the counseling session; effective counseling theories for children and adolescents, individual and group counseling with children and adolescents, counseling with children and adolescents with special needs, counseling during and after divorce, ethical and legal issues. Course Objectives: 

This course provides students with a framework for the information and skills which is necessary for counseling with children and adolescents. 

Course Learning Outcomes: 

By the end of the course, students will be able to

1. explain the etiology, epidemiology, and diagnosis of child and adolescent mental illness

2. judge the impact of psychopathology on the development of children and adolescents

3. explain school-based interventions for child and adolescent effectively

4. gain insight into the major role of the school counselor in supporting children and adolescents with  mental health problems
