Course Objectives:
Establishing a new vein of applied and interactive learning experience is the main objective. Combining theory and current issues with real life data using a financial software would augment learning, and real life skills. Incorporating Bloomberg into the curriculum provides not only access to data, analytics and expert analysis, but also a competitive edge for graduates that employers value.
At the end of this course, students will be able to:
• To provide a broader perspective of international economic and financial issues.
o Explain the need for economic indicators.
o Explain the concept of leading, lagging and current indicators.
o Define the major indicators and the difference between real vs nominal values.
• Build a bridge between theory and economic and financial facts and observations.
• To develop and understand tools to monitor real life economic and financial data.
• Develop skills to compile and extract data for applied research needs.
o Understand the tools used to transform indicators on the Bloomberg Professional Service.
• Intrigue graduate students for further investigation to help in their respective flied of interests in banking/finance.
