Objective of this course is to teach the students steps of the scientific research process. Students will be tutored in choosing a research topic, making a literature review, devising measurement tools, collecting and analyzing data, writing a research proposal and a final research report in APA style.
Upon completing this course, students will be able to;
1. conduct and report an empirical research related to the field,
2. conceptualize the research process as contiguous with counseling practice, and to understand counseling interventions and assessment as research,
3. identify and differentiate empirical from non-empirical questions,
4. use and interpret basic descriptive and parametric inferential statistics, including scales of measurement, measures of central tendency, indices of variability, shapes and types of distributions, correlations; reliability, validity,
5. evaluate how statistical methods are used in conducting research and program evaluation,
6. sensitive to ethical and legal issues in counseling research,
7. utilize computer resources for data management and analysis.
