Course Objectives: 

This course aims to improve the understanding of social science research process including how to ask social science research questions,designing and writing a research proposal and applying methods covered in BA 401. The course requires an analytical, not descriptive, research paper, to be coordinated with an advisor. The completed research is to be presented in written form and as part of a seminar.

Software Usage: 
Students will use Stata 12, MS Office applications (Word, Excel, Access, Powerpoint) to work on their weekly assignments about 2 hours a week.

Upon succesful completion of this course, a student will be able to
1. Review the relevant literature; collect data from various sources
2. Develop a clear and specific research question to which the tools of empirical economic analysis can be applied
3. Develop a business model for your research question
4. Interpret the financial statements
5. Develop a testable hypothesis from the model
6. Find and collect data to test your hypothesis
7. Use statistical analysis to test the hypotheses
8. Offer constructive criticisms to peers, and communicate findings orally
